CES 2012: From the eyes of a first-timer

For the past few years, I’ve worked with various colleagues and clients who both attend and show at CES (Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas). I’ve helped out on everything from sales presentations to booth setups, meeting schedules to travel reservations, but until this year I had not been lucky enough to attend.

The biggest tech trade show in the United States is just a few hours away, and as I prepare for my flight to Vegas (Baby) I’ll be attending my very FIRST CES conference along with my fellow colleagues from ALPHA; Katharine Belloir and Stephen Olshansky. Seasoned CES-ers Steve Greene and Erik Williams will be there too, getting in this year’s action.

I’ve found that some clients look to their agency for help and advice on their brand, some want their agencies to execute on ideas they formulate, and others aren’t exactly sure what they want.


The Jersey Shore-ification of marketing

About a year ago, I received an email forward from a friend and colleague of mine at a past agency. This agency represents a large gym chain, and my friend is the account supervisor for this client. The email was from Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s manager, telling my friend that “THE SITUATION’S AMAZING ABS!!!” would be the best possible spokesmodel for the gym.
